Did you know children with ASD have 400% higher odds of unmet health care needs compared to children without disabilities? As we recognize Autism Awareness Month alongside people throughout the world, we're also working hard to ensure our students can advocate for their healthcare needs by renovating our Student Café and wellness spaces.
This month we’ve unveiled the 2024 Annual Theme for RCS Learning Center, which was created and decided by our very own staff members at Realizing Children’s Strengths. Celebrating All Children: Empowering Differences, Inspiring Growth is what we do every day at RCS Learning Center.
We need your help this April!
This month we will be renovating our student café and wellness spaces and we need your help fulfilling our materials list. We need your help this April to make a meaningful impact on our students' daily experience at RCS Learning Center by donating items to our student café and wellness spaces.
This month we’re making some major updates to our student café and wellness spaces, which all of our students and staff members work in and around every day. Additionally, we’ll be dedicating the café officially to one of our incredible, long-time supporters and family of one of our former students.
Our goal is to make the café almost like new for our students when they walk into school the following week! And we’re asking our community for help.
Why the café and wellness spaces?
Did you know children with ASD have nearly 4 times higher odds of unmet health care needs compared to children without disabilities?
One of the ways we’re combatting these statistics is with our new Wellness and Nutrition Program that we were able to initiate last year thanks to generous donations. In order to continue growing and strengthening this new program, and other critical educational programs at RCS, we need your support.
Providing students at RCS with tools and education around physical wellness, healthy meal choices, and independent cooking skills, enables them to develop essential routines early in life to help with long-term health.
